The method comprising the step of collapsing an expandable lead anchor (60) coupled to a distal portion (50) of a medical electrical lead body (42), wherein the distal portion (50) of the lead body (42) includes one or more individual electrodes (56) located thereon adapted to transvascularly deliver an electrical pulse to a nerve to be stimulated. The distal portion (50) extending along and contacting an exterior of the expandable lead anchor (60). The method further comprising the step of guiding the collapsed lead anchor (60) coupled to the distal portion (50) of the lead body (42) to a location within a vessel adjacent the nerve to be stimulated. The method further comprising the step of causing or allowing the expandable lead anchor (60) to assume an expanded configuration to urge the distal portion (50) of the lead body (42) including the one or more electrodes (56) located thereon into contact with a wall of the vessel in which the lead (6) is delivered so as to secure and stabilize the distal portion (50) of the lead body (42) in the vessel.
