PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antiviral agent and antiviral food composition, which can be a new way of utilizing a bamboo-shoot derived substance.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, there is provided an antiviral agent and antiviral food composition, which comprise a bamboo-shoot derived material as an active ingredient and are used for prevention or treatment of viral infections. For example, the virus is an RNA virus and is any virus selected from the group consisting of influenza virus, rotavirus, and norovirus.
