Specifically, the invention relates to a composition comprising probiotics consisting of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LC70 alone or Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Lactobacillus rhamnosus LC705. Also the invention relates to the composition for use as a medicament. Furthermore, the present invention relates to uses of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LC705 alone or together with Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG for the manufacture of a composition for the treatment and/or prevention of a respiratory infection and for intensifying resistance against viruses causing respiratory infections in a subject. Furthermore, the present invention describes uses of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG for the manufacture of a composition for the treatment and/or prevention of a respiratory infection in an adult and for intensifying resistance against viruses causing respiratory infections in an adult subject. Still, the present invention relates to uses of Lactobacillus rhamnosus for the manufacture of a composition for reducing, delaying or inhibiting influenza virus replication and for increasing antiviral cytokine(s) in a subject to be or being infected with a respiratory infection. Still, the present invention relates to methods of treating or preventing a respiratory infection in a subject or in an adult subject, intensifying resistance against viruses causing respiratory infections in a subject or in an adult subject, reducing, delaying or inhibiting influenza virus replication in a subject and increasing antiviral cytokine(s) in a subject to be or being infected with a respiratory infection.
