In one aspect, a composition preferable for treating hyperphosphatemia contains a therapeutically effective dose of at least one type of calcium salt and at least one type of phosphate-binding magnesium salt. In the composition, a mass ratio between calcium salt and phosphate-binding magnesium is 100:1 to 1:100, preferably 10:1 to 1:10, and more preferably 3:1 to 1:3.
