The subject of the invention is a process for dyeing keratinous fibers, comprising the use of one or more metal catalysts and a composition (A) comprising: one or more oxidizing agents, and at least one mono- amino benzene derivative of formula (I) or one of its addition salts or solvates in which the radicals R1 to R5 represent, independently of one another: a hydrogen atom； a halogen atom, a C1-C6 alkyl radical, a C1-C6 alkoxy radical, a carboxylic radical (-COOH) or a sulphonic radical (-SO3H)； two of the radicals R1 to R5 adjacent which can form with the carbon atoms carrying them a 5- to 7-membered saturated or unsaturated ring, optionally comprising from 1 to 2 heteroatoms, preferably of oxygen, the said ring being optionally condensed with a saturated ring or not having 5 to 6 members； with the proviso that at least one of R 1 to R 5 represents an optionally substituted alkoxy radical, and preferably at least one other of R 1 to R 5 radicals being a hydrogen atom.
