Use of a hydroentangled nonwoven fabric (1) made of continuous filaments, which does not exhibit openings, as a female component (loop component) of a hook and loop fastener system, is claimed. An independent claim is also included for producing a loop material comprising pre-consolidating the hydroentangled nonwoven fabric bonded by thermal bonding, partially releasing the filaments from the bindings by water jets such that they form larger loops, which can easily penetrate the hook and find support.
