Disclosed are aryl pyrrolidine compounds represented by the formula (I). The compounds are useful as a broad spectrum insectide / pesticide against animal pests such as insects and acari, particularly pests with resistance to organophosphorus or carbamate agents. The compounds are harmless to beneficial insects such as bees. The compounds are also effective in the control of parasites, arthropods, helminths, and protozoae. An example of an arylpyrrolidine compound is N-{ 4-[3-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrrolidin-1-yl]-2-methylbenzyl} acetamide.
