Cysteine compositions comprising less than about 400 µg/L of aluminum. Forexample, solutions of cysteine comprising a pharmaceutically acceptablesolvent,cysteine, and less than about 145 µg/L of aluminum, wherein the solution isdevoid ofvisible particulate matter. Cysteine compositions described herein may besuitable forinjection. For example, disclosed cysteine solutions may be providedintravenously tomeet amino acid nutritional requirement in individuals receiving totalparenteral nutrition.Also provided are processes for preparing cysteine compositions, and methodsforproviding cysteine to individuals in need thereof.
