An infusion pump including an interface unit for receiving first data for afirst infusionregimen for a medication, the first regimen including a first unit of measurein which the firstregimen is executed and after receipt of the first data, second data for asecond infusionregimen for the medication, the second regimen including a second unit ofmeasure in which thesecond regimen is executed. The pump also includes a processor for comparingthe first andsecond units of measure. In one embodiment, the pump includes a graphical userinterface, andthe processor identifies a difference between the first and second units ofmeasure； generates,using the processor, a warning message； and displays the message on thegraphical userinterface. In another embodiment, the processor holds in abeyance initiationof the secondinfusion regimen in response to identifying the difference between the unitsof measure.
