PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily select a wavelength band in an electronic endoscope apparatus to form a spectral image in the selected wavelength band.

SOLUTION: In the electronic endoscope apparatus, an imaging element 15 captures the image of an object to be observed irradiated with white light, and a spectral image in a prescribed wavelength band selected by a user is formed based on R-G-B three color image signals outputted from the imaging element 15 and parameters in the matrix (spectra) data previously stored in a memory 36. The spectral distribution (spectral reflection factor data) in the prescribed band is created from the R-G-B three color image signals in the prescribed band selected by the user and the matrix (spectra) data and is displayed. Accordingly, the user can set the prescribed wavelength band while observing the spectral distribution.
