The present invention relates to a trimming method for a fruit plant including a mandarin tree. 1) A power branch that is a branch having at least two branches as fruiting mother branches which can bloom and provide fruit in a certain year and having at least two reserve branches as branches to bloom and provide fruit in the following year is formed to have two main power branches (main tree branches extending straight from a tree bottom portion to a tip and forming the main portion of the tree), four sub-power branches (branches found in a lower end portion of the main branch, serving a similar role to the main branch, and supporting the main branch of the tree), and 12 auxiliary power branches (two auxiliary branches for each main power or sub-power branch supplementing the main and sub-power branches) and a thread-shaped form is made as a result. One candidate power branch (branch made and planned in advance as a branch to be used as a power branch in the following year and yielding at least two strands of the reserve branch) is set for each of the main power branch, sub-power branch, and auxiliary power branch as thread-shaped power branches and a virtual tree form is made as a result.
