A forceps (10) includes a pair of jaw members (42, 44), a drive tube (34) coupled to the pair of jaw members (42, 44), and a spring assembly (50) positioned proximal to the drive tube (34). The drive tube (34) is movable to pivot one or both of the pair of jaw members (42, 44) between spaced-apart and approximated positions. The spring assembly (50) is configured to engage the drive tube (34) and limit movement of the drive tube (34) to control relative movement between the pair of jaw members (42, 44).
