A handpiece attaching/detaching device for attaching and detaching a dental handpiece to and from a handpiece mounting terminal of a dental handpiece cleaning device comprises: a ring member which is fixed to the handpiece mounting terminal and is used to hold a connection end portion of the handpiece a function ring which slidably fits to the outside of the ring member and an operation lever which is coupled to the function ring. The ring member has a grooved portion that includes slotted grooves which are cut from one end. The handpiece can be attached to or detached from the ring member by operating the operation lever so as to slide the function ring and expand or reduce the inner diameter of the grooved portion of the ring member.
