A wheelchair (10) comprises a frame (14) and first and second rear wheels (12)that are each independently mounted to the frame via a respective mounting hub16. Each rear wheel is detachably mounted to its respective mounting hub at twoor more distinct hub mounting points (62, 64). Either or both of the hub mountingpoints (62, 64) can be movable with respect to a remainder of the hub (eg. via a pivotingarrangement). A disk (18) can be positioned at the rear wheel (12) and a stop element(76) located at the mounting hub (16) can be selectively operated to interferewith the disk to prevent rotation of that rear wheel. Each rear wheel may comprisea push-rim (22) having an elastomeric outer layer (24) to facilitate manual grippingand an externally facing generally flat side face (26). The frame (14) can comprisefirst and second spaced apart and unitary tubes (30, 32) which each extend in anunbroken manner from a wheelchair seat (36) to a wheelchair forward region (38).First and second backrest members (50, 51) can extend generally upwards froma proximal end of the frame (14), and each backrest member can be pivotally connectedto the frame via a respective mounting hub (16) to enable adjustment of the backrestmembers with respect to the frame. Also, a backrest portion (60) can be slidablyattached down onto and be detachable up from the backrest members such that, whenslid down, its underside (61) can sit on the seat (36).
