PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for gathering or removing suspended matter on a water surface area and a suspended matter removing device in which a course of a work boat is not affected by the suspended matter gathered on a water surface area, thereby preventing a decrease of work efficiency.SOLUTION: A suspended matter removing device 1 has a main frame 2 disposed at the front in the traveling direction of a work boat, and a suspended matter gathering tool 4 provided to the main frame. The suspended matter gathering tool has a gathering tool frame having an opening part frame with an opening part 401 for taking the suspended matter on the water surface area therein, and a gathering net for gathering the suspended matter taken from the opening part of the opening part frame. The gathering net has a collecting part 402 for collecting the suspended matter entered from the opening part, and a storage part 403 for taking in and storing the suspended matter collected at the collecting part by using the opening part smaller than the opening part provided at a central portion of the collecting part as an intake port.
