PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a level wind mechanism of an electric reel in which a motor is arranged ahead of a spool and which prevents a fishing line from being brought into contact with a housing part of the motor.SOLUTION: A level wind mechanism 22 is a mechanism in which a motor 12 housed in a reel body 1 is arranged ahead of a spool 10. The level wind mechanism 22 comprises a fishing line guide 23 and a traverse cam shaft 24. The fishing line guide 23 is extended above the motor 12 in the substantially longitudinal direction across the center MC of the motor 12 and has a cylindrical guide part 25a for guiding the fishing line. The traverse cam shaft 24, on which a spiral groove 24a crossing to the outer peripheral surface is formed, reciprocates the fishing line guide in the direction parallel to a rotary shaft of the spool interlockingly with at least the rotation of the spool 10 in the line winding direction.
