The visible light illuminator is configured to be capable of changing an illuminating light intensity in a range including at least from a light intensity capable of exposing the eye to be examined to brightness equivalent to that, in a nighttime environment to a light intensity capable of exposing the eye to be examined to brightness equivalent to that in a daytime environment.
