The invention relates to a silicone oil-containing formulation for nasal application for use in a method for the intranasal treatment of diseases of the nose brought on by endogenous and/or exogenous causes, e.g. of the kind caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses and/or allergens. According to the invention, the silicone oil or the formulation is, if desired, enriched with oxygen, preferably in the presence of emulsifiers, and optionally in the presence of further active substances, such as a-sympathomimetic drugs, e.g. oxymetazoline or xylomethazoline.
