PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting a suitable monkey as a model animal by detecting presence or absence of polymorphism which is identified as the polymorphism altering expression and/or function of a drug-metabolizing enzyme in a gene encoding CYP2C43, CYP2C75, CYP2D17, and CYP2D44 of a monkey.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for selecting a model animal used for examining pharmacokinetics, drug efficacy and/or safety about pharmaceutical candidate compounds for humans, comprising a step of detecting polymorphism of a gene encoding a drug-metabolizing enzyme belonging to CYP2C and CYP2D subfamily in a monkey individual, and a step of evaluating whether the polymorphism alters the expression and/or function of the drug-metabolizing enzyme.
