The scanning optics apply an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan to the fundus of an eye under examination. The front image acquisition unit acquires a front image of the fundus. On the basis of a preset condition, the region of interest setting unit analyzes the front image and sets a region of interest intersecting a blood vessel. The scan control unit controls the scanning optics in such a manner as to apply repetitive OCT scans to the region of interest.
