The syringe assembly comprises a barrel, plunger rod and stopper wherein the plunger rod further comprises a flexible protrusion (556) that locks the plunger rod within the barrel at the end of the forward stroke. The plunger rod further includes a frangible portion (570) which breaks when reuse is attempted.
