Disclosed are-(2-Hydroxy-4-aminophenyl)benzotriazole derivativesof formula (1), wherein R and R independently of each otherare hydrogen C-Calkyl C-CalkoxyC-Cal- kenyl C-CalkinylC-Ccycloalkyl C-CcycloalkenylC-C aralkyl C-Chetero- alkylC-Ccycloheteroalkyl or C-Cheteroaralkyl and wherein C-Calkyl, C-Cal-koxy, C-Calkenyl and C-Calkinylare unsubstituted or may be substituted by at least one C-Calkyl,C-Calkoxy or hydroxy R and R independentlyof each other are hydrogen C-Calkyl C-Calkenyl C-Calki- nyl C-CcycloalkylC-Ccycloalkenyl C-C aralkylC-C heteroalkyl C-Ccyclo-heteroalkyl C-Cheteroaralkyl and wherein C-Calkyl,C-Calkoxy, C-Calkenyl andC-Calkinyl are unsubstituted or may be substitutedby at least one C-Calkyl, C- Calkoxyor hydroxy or CO-R or R and R together togetherwith the linking nitrogen form a 5- to 7-membered, monocyclic, carbocyclic orheterocyclic ring R is C-Calkyl C-CalkenylC-Calkinyl C-CcycloalkylC-Ccycloalkenyl C-CaralkylC-C heteroalkyl C-C cycloheteroalkylC-Calkoxycarbonyl-C- Calkylor C-Cheteroaralkyl for protecting human and animalhair and skin from harmful effects of UV radiation.
