The invention relates to two novel compounds derived from Curcumin a curcuminoid of turmeric as drug candidates for cancer treatment. Cancers share some common pathogenic mechanism at the level of cell signaling and transcription. Hence, a drug which can act at this level can be used to treat cancer. The activator protein - 1 (AP1) is a transcription factor and consists of either homodimers or heterodimers of the Jun and Fos family proteins. The two novel derivatives of Curcumin can be effective drug candidates for inhibition of AP1 and can provide a promising solutionto treat cancer.
