The present invention relates to a method for producing biodegradable polyglycolic acid with an ultra-high molecular weight and a high-stiffness, and biodegradable implant including the biodegradable polyglycolic acid with an ultra-high molecular weight produced by the same. The method includes the following steps: a) obtaining pellets (A) of polyglycolic acid with a weight average molecular weight of 10,000-50,000 by inserting glycolide, a reaction initiation catalyst, and a catalyst in an reactor and performing ring-opening polymerization; b) obtaining pellets (B) of polyglycolic acid with a weight average molecular weight of 100,000-1,000,000 by inserting the pellets (A) of polyglycolic acid and glycolide in a reaction extruder and performing ring-opening polymerization and chain polymerization and condensation reaction; and c) obtaining pellets (C) of polyglycolic acid with a weight average molecular weight of 1,000,000-10,000,000 by performing solid-phase polymerization on the pellets (B) of polyglycolic acid in a condition of the temperature from a glass transition temperature or higher to a melting temperature of polyglycolic acid or lower, in a vacuum condition, or under an inert gas atmosphere.본 발명은 a) 글리콜리드, 반응개시촉매 및 촉매를 반응기에 투입하고 개환중합반응을 진행하여 중량평균분자량 10,000 내지 50,000의 폴리글리콜산 펠렛(A)를 얻는 단계; b) 상기 폴리글리콜산 펠렛(A)에 글리콜리드를 반응압출기에 투입하고 개환중합 및 사슬중축합반응을 진행하여 중량평균분자량 100,000 내지 1,000,000의 폴리글리콜산 펠렛(B)를 얻는 단계; 및 c) 상기 폴리글리콜산 펠렛(B)를 폴리글리콜산의 유리전이온도 이상 용융온도 이하의 온도 조건, 진공 또는 불활성기체 분위기 하에서 고상중합을 진행하여 중량평균분자량 1,000,000 내지 10,000,000 범위의 폴리글리콜산 펠렛(C)를 얻는 단계;를 포함하는 초고분자량 생분해성 폴리글리콜산의 제조방법 및 이로부터 제조된 초고분자량 생분해성 폴리글리콜산을 포함하는 고강성 생분해성 임플란트에 관한 것이다.
