PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cosmetic composition that imparts persistent conditioner effects such as smoothness and settlement to the hair and yet makes the hair easy to be uniform and imparts a cooling feeling to maintain a comfortable feeling until the next days shampoo.SOLUTION: A hair cosmetic composition includes components (A) a cationic polymer, (B) a fatty acid and (C) a cationic or anionic surfactant. The component (A) has cation density of at least 4 meq/g. The component (B) is selected between (B-1) a specific branched fatty acid and (B-2) a mixed fatty acid of a 14-22C linear fatty acid and isostearic acid with the mass ratio of the 14-22C linear fatty acid and isostearic acid (linear fatty acid/isostearic acid) in the mixed fatty acid being 0.25-4.0.
