The present invention is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament and to a housing for such a device. The housing comprises an outer housing (10) with a distal end and a cartridge holder (20) with a proximal end, which, when the cartridge holder (20) is attached to the outer housing (10), is inserted into the distal end of the outer housing (10). The outer housing (10) is provided with a first fixture (14) for axially constraining a further component part (60) to the outer housing (10). When the cartridge holder (20) is attached to the outer housing (10), the proximal end of the cartridge holder (20) axially extends to the first fixture (14).
