The present disclosure is concerned with a process for preparing a 5-(2-{ [6-(2,2-difluoro-2-phenylethoxy)hexyl]amino} -1(R)-hydroxyethyl)-8-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-one compound of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The process of the present disclosure provides for each of a reduction step and the deprotection step to be performed in a single step in easily attained reaction conditions.
