The invention relates to a rooting plug made from a substrate including organic and/or non-organic material for cultivation of a plant, comprising a substantially cylindrically shaped plug body having a top surface, an outer side surface and a bottom surface. The plug body comprises a root chamber and a stem passage extending from the top surface of the plug body into the root chamber. Further, a substantial portion of the outer side surface in cross sectional view has a polygon shape.
