Intralesional injections including poloxamer compounds and anticancer drugsare disclosed. Thecombination of the poloxamer-based composition with chemotherapeutic agentswithin thedisclosed intralesional injections provides a synergistic effect, therebyallowing lower dosages ofthe active drugs and enhancing the treatment effectiveness. The disclosedpoloxamer-basedintralesional injections are employed for treating different types of cancerin humans and otheranimal species. The disclosed intralesional injections can be used as the soletherapy or incombination with one or more additional therapies, such as, chemotherapy,electrotherapy,immunotherapy and/or radiation therapy. The disclosed intralesional injectionscan be employedin virotherapy and gene therapy treatments. The disclosed intralesionalinjections are designedfor immediate release or controlled release of the active drugs. The disclosedintralesionalinjections are employed for local or systemic administration of active drugs.
