The invention relates to a wheelchair (100) comprising: i) a frame (100f), ii) a seat (110), iii) a backrest (120), iv) front wheels (200), v) rear wheels (300) and vi) a handle (130). The frame (100f) comprises a wheel frame (140) and a seat frame (111) pivotably mount-ed to the wheel frame (140) via seat frame hinges (113), wherein the seat (110) mounted to the seat frame (111). Both sides of the wheel frame (140) comprise a front rod (141) and rear rod (142) being pivotably mounted to said front rod (141) via said seat frame hinge (113), wherein said front wheels (200) are mounted to the front rods (141) and said rear wheels (300) are mounted to said rear rods (142). The seat frame (111) is coupled with the wheel frame (140) via a joint linkage system (115) coupled with said front rods (141) and rear rods (142), the joint linkage system (115) setting an operation angle (ao1..ao3) between said front rods (141) and said rear rods (142). The seat frame (111), wheel frame (140) and the joint linkage system (115) are configured such that backward rotation (R1) of the seat (110) causes the joint linkage system (115) to increase the operation angle (ao1..ao3) between said front rods (141) and rear rods (142) thereby increasing a distance between respective far ends (141e, 142e) of the front rods (141) and the rear rods (142) and thereby increasing the wheel footprint (WFP1..WFP3) of the wheelchair (100), and such that forward rotation (R2) of the seat (110) causes the joint linkage system (115) to decrease the operation angle (ao1..ao3) between said front rods (141) and rear rods (142) thereby decreasing the distance between respective far ends (141e, 142e) of the front rods (141) and the rear rods (142) and thereby decreasing the wheel footprint (WFP1..WFP3) of the wheelchair (100).
