The present invention provides methods for detecting and diagnosing cancer, which method involves the determination of the expression level of the LGN/GPSM2 gene. Furthermore, the present invention provides methods of screening for therapeutic agents useful in the treatment or prevention of cancer and methods for treating breast cancer.
