PURPOSE: FAM19A5 is provided to use for diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of central nervous system injury, degenerative brain disease, or central nervous system disease by controlling fission or differentiation of neural stem cell, recovering initial loss organization, and closely examining a suppression of astrocyte generation in case of neutralizing FAM19A5. CONSTITUTION: A composition for modulating fission or differentiation of stem cell comprises family with sequence similarity 19, member A5 (FAM19A5) or its inhibitor as a modulator of fission and differentiation. The stem cell is embryo bud neural stem cell or adult neural stem cell. The inhibitor of FAM19A5 is one among antisense - oligonucleotide, siRNA, shRNA, miRNA, vector comprising the same and antibody. A composition for diagnosing central nervous system injury, degenerative brain disease, or central nervous system disease comprises mRNA of the FAM19A5 gene, or an agent measuring its protein level.본 발명은 신경교세포 생성 조절에 관여하는 FAM19A5의 약제학적 용도에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 척추동물의 신경줄기세포에 분포하면서 신경교세포 생성을 조절하는 FAM19A5를 통해 중추신경계 손상, 퇴행성 뇌질환 또는 중추신경계 질환의 예방, 진단 또는 치료에 사용할 수 있다.
