To suppress entry of rear scattered light generated in an optical fiber composing a reference light path into a measurement optical path in an interferometer that has the reference light path and the measurement optical path.SOLUTION: In an interferometer 100 which guides light from a light source 101 to a beam splitter (hereafter, "BS") 102 and divides it into measurement light and reference light, irradiates the measurement light to an examination subject E, guides the reflected measurement light from the examination subject to BS 103, guides the reference light from BS 102 to BS 103 via optical fibers 131, 132, and generates interference light by multiplexing the measurement light guided by BS 103 and the reference light, in the case that a length of a measurement optical path where the measurement light proceeds from BS 102 to BS 103 is X and a length of a reference light path where the reference light proceeds from BS 102 to BS 103 is Y, rear scattered light is generated while the reference light propagates in the reference light path from BS 102 to BS 103, and the measurement optical path and the reference light path suppress entry of the rear scattered light into the measurement optical path via BS 102 by using a relationship between X and Y.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6【課題】参照光路と測定光路を有する干渉計において、参照光路を構成する光ファイバ内で生じた後方散乱光の測定光路への進入を抑止する。【解決手段】光源101からの光をビームスプリッタ(以下、「BS」)102に導いて測定光と参照光とに分割し、測定光を被検物Eに照射し、被検物から反射した測定光をBS103に導き、BS102からの参照光を光ファイバ131,132を経由してBS103に導き、BS103に導かれた測定光と参照光とが合波して干渉光を生成する干渉計100において、測定光がBS102からBS103に至る測定光路の長さをX、参照光がBS102からBS103に至る参照光路の長さをYとした場合に、参照光が参照光路内をBS102からBS103に向かって伝播中に後方散乱光が発生し、測定光路および参照光路は、XとYとの間の関係を利用することにより、前記後方散乱光がBS102を経て測定光路内に進入することを抑制するように構成される。【選択図】図6
