PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device material in which a calcium phosphate film having high biocompatibility is fabricated in an intended specific site by high adhesion force while excellent mechanical characteristics of tetragonal zirconia are maintained, and a method for manufacturing the material.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a medical device material in which a specific site of a medical device material containing tetragonal zirconia is coated by calcium phosphate comprises: a first process of irradiating a specific site with ultrashort pulse laser to form irregularities on a surface and a second process of evaporating or precipitating calcium phosphate fine particles having a smaller size comparing to the size of irregularities on the specific site.
