The invention relates to a system (1) for occluding a left atrial appendage, comprising: an expandable element (10) being designed to be inserted into said left atrial appendage (2) in a first state of said element, wherein said element (10) is further designed to be expanded from said first state into a second state in which said element (10) occludes the left atrial appendage (2). According to the invention, said element (10) is designed to fill out the left atrial appendage (2) completely in a form-fitting manner in said second state without acting on an inner side (2a) of the left atrial appendage (2) with a pressure.
