According to some embodiments, a method of treating a subject having diabetes or a symptom associated with diabetes is provided. The method includes delivering a neuromodulation catheter into a blood vessel (eg, a hepatic artery) having surrounding nerves that innervate the liver (eg, sympathetic nerves of the liver plexus). The method also includes performing nerve modulation (eg, division, excision, stimulation) by mechanical compression, energy delivery or fluid delivery.
