The present invention relates to a composition for promoting muscle differentiation containing gallic acid as an active ingredient. The gallic acid, which is the active ingredient of the present invention, not only promotes cell survival rate of myoblasts, but also induces and promotes the differentiation of the myoblasts into myocytes, thereby regulating expression levels of proteins associated with muscle cell differentiation. Therefore, gallic acid of the present invention can be useful for health functional foods for preventing or ameliorating senile muscle loss or promoting muscle growth, drugs for muscular disease, or agents for promoting muscle differentiation.본 발명은 갈산을 유효성분으로 포함하는 근 분화 촉진용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 유효성분인 갈산이 근원세포의 세포 생존률을 증진시킬 뿐만 아니라, 근원세포의 근세포로의 분화를 유도 및 촉진할 수 있으며, 근세포분화 관련 단백질의 발현량을 조절하는 효과가 있는 것이다.따라서 본 발명의 갈산은 근분화 촉진제, 근육질환에 대한 의약품 또는 근육증가 촉진 또는 노인성 근 손실의 예방 또는 개선용 건강기능성식품에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
