Provided herein is a dry composition comprising (a) nanoparticles comprising a poorly water soluble pharmaceutical agent and albumin, and (b) sucrose, wherein the weight ratio of albumin to the poorly water soluble pharmaceutical agent in the composition is 18:1 or less, and wherein the weight ratio of sucrose to the poorly water soluble pharmaceutical agent in the composition is 7:1, 8:1, 9:1, 10:1 or more. Also provided herein is a liquid suspension comprising (a) nanoparticles comprising a poorly water soluble pharmaceutical agent and albumin, and (b) sucrose, wherein the weight ratio of albumin to the poorly water soluble pharmaceutical agent in said suspension is 18:1 or less, and wherein the concentration of sucrose in said suspension is greater than 50 mg/ml, or is 50 mg/ml to 100 mg/ml. Uses of said compositions in a method of treating cancer in an individual are also provided.
