Aufgabe ist es ein verbessertes Verfahren zur Erfassung eines Forstbestandes und eine verbesserte Vorrichtung anzugeben. Das wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, dass das Sensormodul während des Fluges mit einer Seilwinde von der Drohne in eine Lücke eines Kronendachs des Forstbestandes abgeseilt wird und Messungen mit dem abgeseilten Sensormodul durchgeführt werden und dass das Sensormodul der Vorrichtung ein Lasermodul zur Bestimmung der Geometrie und der Lage der Baumoberflächen aufweist und zumindest eine Laseraustrittsöffnung vorgesehen ist.The invention relates to a method for detecting a forest stand with a device which comprises a drone and a sensor module, and the drone flies at a distance above the canopy of the forest stand.
