PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core biopsy device capable of performing the biopsy of a suspect lesion close to the skin.SOLUTION: The biopsy device is for obtaining a tissue sample such as a breast tissue biopsy sample. The biopsy device may comprise an outer cannula with a distal piercing tip, a cutter lumen, a side tissue port communicating with the cutter lumen and at least one fluid passageway disposed on the distal end side of the side tissue port. The tissue sample can be severed by advancing an inner cutter inside the cutter lumen over the side tissue port.
