Pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of cancer and asthma are provided. The subject of the present invention can be solved by a pharmaceutical composition comprising, as an active ingredient, siRNA capable of cleaving mucin subtype 5AC mRNA via RNA interference, or an antibody against mucin subtype 5AC. According to the present invention, it is possible to efficiently treat a disease associated with overexpression of MUC5AC. In cancers in which MUC5AC is expressed, particularly pancreatic cancer, the pharmaceutical composition containing the siRNA of the present invention can be effectively used for cancer treatment.
