The present invention relates to methods for the generation of a genetically modified animal, said methods comprising the steps of providing an oocyte of the animal that has undergone somatic cell nuclear transfer, and introducing at least one agent into a pronucleus-like structure by microinjection after said fused oocyte has developed said pronucleus-like structure, wherein said agent is selected from the group consisting of a transgene, a nucleic acid having homology to a genomic region of interest in the animals genome, a protein, and mixtures thereof. The present invention further relates to respective genetically modified animals and progeny thereof.
