The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating retinal disease, comprising CCN5 as an active ingredient. CCN5 according to the present invention prevents fibrotic modification of retinal pigment epithelial cells by TGF-β, EEF or anti-VEGF drugs. In addition, the CCN5 restores morphological or functional damage by fibrotic modification of retinal pigment epithelial cells to the level of normal cells. Therefore, the composition containing the CCN5 as an active ingredient may be usefully used for the prevention or treatment of retinal diseases.본 발명은 CCN5를 유효성분으로 포함하는 망막질환 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 CCN5는 TGF-β, EEF 또는 anti-VEGF 약물에 의한 망막색소상피 세포의 섬유증적 변형을 예방한다. 또한, 상기 CCN5는 망막색소상피 세포의 섬유증적 변형에 의한 형태학적 또는 기능적인 손상을 정상세포의 수준으로 회복시킨다. 따라서, 상기 CCN5를 유효성분으로 포함하는 조성물은 망막질환의 예방 또는 치료에 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
