The present invention relates to a novel bacteriophage EC13 having the ability to specifically kill avian pathogenic Escherichia coli； a pharmaceutical composition, an antibiotic composition, a feed additive composition, a feed, a disinfectant or detergent, all of which comprise the bacteriophage for preventing or treating infectious diseases caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli； and a method for preventing or treating infectious diseases caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli, which comprises a step of administering the bacteriophage to poultry. The method of preventing or treating infectious diseases caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli by using the bacteriophage EC13 of the present invention shows higher specificity with respect to avian pathogenic Escherichia coli than pre-existing chemicals such as antibiotics, and when infected in Escherichia coli, the bacteriophage EC13 propagates more than 100 times in the Escherichia coli, thus showing excellent lytic activity, and also shows the advantage of being highly resistant to physicochemical stresses. Further, the bacteriophage EC13 of the present invention does not infect hosts other than bacteria, such as humans, animals, and plants, and thus has the advantages of resolving the problems associated with antibiotics-resistant bacteria due to abuse of antibiotics, antibiotics remaining in foods, and having a broad host spectrum.
