The MRI apparatus (20A) according to one embodiment comprises an RF coil device (100A), a first wireless communication unit (200A), second wireless communication units (300), an image reconstruction unit (56), and an assessment unit (412). The RF coil device detects and digitizes MR signals from the subject. The RF coil device comprises a data protection unit for storing the MR signals. The first wireless communication unit wirelessly transmits the MR signals digitized by the RF coil device. The second communication units receive said MR signals. The image reconstruction unit reconstructs the image data on the basis of the received MR signals. The assessment unit assesses whether or not there has been a transmission failure in the wireless communication between the first and second wireless communication units. When there has been a transmission failure, the first wireless communication unit wirelessly transmits the MR signals stored in the data protection unit to the second wireless communication units.
