PURPOSE: A generation controlling method of lateral roots on a road side tree is provided to induce the growing direction of roots of the tree to the vertical direction, and to smoothly supply the moisture and air to the roots of the tree. CONSTITUTION: A generation controlling method of lateral roots on a road side tree comprises the following steps: vertically installing a lateral root preventing plate(10) having the height of 20-50cm on the side surface of a planting stand(90) or a planting hole(20)； locating roots of the road side tree(1) inside the planting hole； filling 5-30cm of the planting hole with culturing soil(30) mixed with a soil conditioner, and water-binding the soil； filling the rest of the planting hole with a soil material(40) having the large soil pore size and the low content of organic components； and regularly or irregularly cutting the lateral roots from the tree once every 1-4 years.본 발명은 가로수 측근 발생 억제 방법에 관한 것으로서, 가로수 식재시 측근방지판 및 토양공극이 크고 유기성분의 함량이 적은 토양재를 사용함으로써 측근이 발생되는 것을 억제하고 뿌리의 방향을 수직방향으로 유도하면서도 뿌리에 수분 및 공기가 원활하게 공급되게 하고, 답압으로부터 견밀도가 높아지지 않도록 하며, 뿌리가 안정적으로 정착할 수 있으면서도 생장이 잘되게 할 수 있다. 또한 식재한 가로수가 보도 블록이나 차도를 훼손하는 것을 방지하고 가로수 식재 후 고사율을 낮춤으로써, 보도 블록 등의 보수 비용 및 식재한 수목이 고사하는 경우 드는 수목의 교체 비용 및 인력의 낭비를 줄일 수 있어 사회경제적인 손실을 막을 수 있다.
