The present invention is about a Self Microemulsifying Drug Delivery System (SMEDDS) of antihypertensive agents to achieve improved bioavailability with good stability. The SMEDDS of the active agent was prepared by using surfactant, cosurfactant and oil phase in specific ratio to achieve the desired result of stability with improved bioavailability. Further the present invention provides a method of treating hypertension, which comprises administering to a patient need thereof a SMEDDS containing an anti hypertensive agent. The invention further provides the use of SMEDDS comprising an antihypertensive agent for treatment of Hypertension.
