A sheathing method which consists in depositing on the sheathing carrier, upstream of the supports storing the tubular plastic film, a bale carried by a handling equipment, which is itself associated with a tractor (3). Said bale (2) is pushed and slides on the carrier base plate (10), against the preceding bale, by means of a pusher-ejector device (25) which, in response, causes the handling equipment to move simultaneously driving the tractor (3) and, by means of a crosspiece (27) arranged beneath the frame (5) of the pusher-ejector, the carrier (1) by means of a stop (26) integral with the two rails constituting the base plate (10) whereon said bale is set. The travel of the pusher (25) is at least equal to the bale (2) length for moving the carrier (1) by a step corresponding to said length.
