PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of breeding cows for improving milk production. A method of breeding bovine subfamily to produce a progeny population with improved milk production traits, comprising: a) a bovine subfamily subject in a sample derived from the bovine subfamily subject. Or detecting the presence or absence of at least one genetic marker associated with at least one trait that is an indicator of the overall health of the offspring； b) assigning an estimated breeding value based on the presence or absence of said at least one genetic marker； c) A bovine having a preferred estimated breeding value from step a) is selected, wherein the bovine selected is used as a parent of the first bovine； and d) the first bovine.
