PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an equol-containing composition which does not contain allergens substantially.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for producing an equol-containing composition comprising the steps of: (1) treating isoflavones with an enzyme which converts the isoflavones into aglycone, (2) culturing an anaerobic microorganism in a medium containing the aglycone collected in the step (1) to convert the aglycone into equol by the anaerobic microorganism, and (3) collecting the equol-containing composition containing the equol produced in the step (2) from the medium.【課題】実質的にアレルゲンを含まないエクオール含有組成物の製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】（１）イソフラボン類を、前記イソフラボン類をアグリコンに変換する酵素で処理する工程、（２）前記工程（１）で得られた前記アグリコンを含有する培地で嫌気性微生物を培養し、前記嫌気性微生物により、前記アグリコンをエクオールに変換する工程、及び、（３）前記工程（２）で産生された前記エクオールを含有するエクオール含有組成物を、前記培地から回収する工程、を含む、エクオール含有組成物の製造方法。【選択図】図１
